I’m Coniah, founder of The Helpful Habit.
I’m a marketer, mother, community builder, and lifelong student of what it means to live well.
I created The Helpful Habit from a simple belief: rest shouldn’t be something we earn after we’ve exhausted ourselves. It should be part of how we build a life.
I’ve spent much of my life being ambitious. Building a career I’m proud of, showing up for the people I love, raising my family, and usually having a few ideas I’m excited about at any given time. I genuinely love doing and creating. But I’ve also learned that a full life and an exhausted life don’t have to be the same thing.
The Helpful Habit became the inflection point.
Here, rest is bigger than sleep or self-care. It’s a practice of returning to ourselves through sensory, communal, creative, and spiritual rest. It’s lingering over dinner with people who make you feel at home. Creating simply because it feels good. Making space for quiet. Traveling, laughing, moving your body, being cared for, and allowing pleasure and leisure to have a meaningful place in your life.
Motherhood has made that philosophy even more important to me. I want my children to see a woman who works hard and dreams boldly but who also knows how to stop. To experience their mother genuinely joyful, connected, playful, and rested. Because the lives we model become part of what our children learn to believe is possible for themselves.
The Helpful Habit explores rest through four different lenses: sensory, communal, creative, and spiritual. Because what restores us changes. The kind of rest we need in one season may be completely different from what we need in the next.
I will share what I learn along the way in pursuit of a rest ethic that heals and a practice for living fully.
